Graphics Interchange
Format (GIF)- (Pronounced jif).GIF is
commonly used for transferring graphics files on the
Internet. It is a data compression format, used
initially by CompuServe, that compresses, and
transfers graphic images into digital information.
The computer can then reproduce the images on-
screen. Bit-mapped files compressed in this format
are known by the three-digit GIF extension at the end
of the file name.
Here
are some examples:
scissors.gif (2kb)

file.gif (5kb)

share.gif (15kb)
